Kenneth W. Wear Minority Scholarship

  • Ken Wear was a dedicated Academy member who served on a number of Academy committees including the House of Delegates. He wrote the resolution that created National Nutrition Month. Ken also served as Foundation Chair in 1988-89 and 2001-2002. His passion for the Academy, the Foundation and the profession was an inspiration to many. This scholarship fund which was established in his name provides supports for a minority dietetic student.

December Dollars Drive.

  • Each year, we fund scholarships, research grants, continuing education awards and innovative educational programs through the Kids Eat Right initiative, yet only five percent of individual Academy members donate to the Foundation. Let’s turn five percent into five dollars from every Academy member!

Kids Eat Right

  • The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation is devoted now more than ever to combating our nation’s obesity epidemic, especially the effect it is having on the country’s youth. By providing our children with the educational tools and opportunities they need to develop healthy-eating and physical-activity habits, both at home and school, the Foundation is committed to providing a healthier future for our children. The Energy Balance For Kids program led by RD Nutrition Coaches, with support from the Healthy Weigh Commitment Foundation, the Champions for Healthy Kids grants program with the General Mills Foundation, and the Academy and Foundation’s Kids Eat Right Campaign are all examples of our dedication to developing healthy lives for future generations and to positioning the registered dietitian as the expert for food and nutrition information for people of all ages.
