HEN 10th Annual Film Feastival and Awards Ceremony
Date: October 16
- Location: NonProfit Center Boston
The Hunger and Environmental Nutrition (HEN) DPG's Annual Film Feastival celebrates its 10th anniversary with hearty appetizers, libations, awards ceremony, networking, and the screening of "Merchants of Doubt." Based on the book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, "Merchants of Doubt" describes how "scientific authorities" obscured the truth about tobacco smoke, toxic chemicals and global warming. A panel following the film will address the methods (spin) used by corporations to protect their profits, while harming our environment and public health.
A panel-audience discussion takes place directly following the screening.
Panelists include: Josh Golin, Executive Director of the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood, Boston; Sheldon Krimsky, Ph.D., professor of urban and environmental policy and planning at Tufts University and co-editor of "The GMO Deception: What You Need to Know about the Food, Corporations, and Government Agencies Putting Our Families and Our Environment at Risk;" and Jonathan Latham, Ph.D., Co-founder and Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project and Editor of Independent Science News, based in Ithaca, NY.
